Brandenburg Kentucky Real Estate and Community Information

Historic Brandenburg Kentucky, home to around 2000 residents, is located southwest of Louisville on the Ohio River, and is the seat of Meade County.  Brandenburg is a city rich in history, not only because of the historic downtown area, but due to the fact that descendants of families that originally settled the area still live here. Brandenburg traces its roots back to 1804, when land known as Falling Springs was purchased by Solomon Brandenburg.  In 1872, Brandenburg was incorporated. Large amounts of artifacts and shell mounds along the river show that Native Americans also called the area home for thousands of years. The history of the city can also be seen in a number of historic churches in the city, including Brandenburg United Methodist Church.
