Hi  Everyone,

I Have a Halloween FUN FACT for you!

But First,

Q: Why didn’t the skeleton cross the road?

A: He didn’t have the guts!

Origin of the pumpkin Jack O'Lantern

According to Wikipedia

The tradition of the Jack O Lantern started with a Turnip.  Yes, a Turnip.

In Celtic Ireland people created menacing faces on turnips and left them on their doorstep to “keep away unwanted guests” during a festival known as Samhain.  Adding a candle gave extra protection.

In modern times pumpkins are used instead of turnips.

Oh, and the name Jack O'Lantern came from a young blacksmith named...you guessed it...Jack O'Lantern.  That's another story in itself.

There you have it.
